If every fic in the world spontaneously disappeared, this would be the one I would mourn the most. The banter is top tier and the story is grounded enough to get away with feeling like a series of dreams. This person's prose is excellent, I want to build a house out of their words and live in it.

Straying is a love letter to GX first and a realistic slow burn second. I love hearing about the author's thought process behind every single major match. There isn't anything I would change about this fic. I have to physically restrain myself from rereading all two-hundred thousand words of it every time it so much as crosses my mind.

This is an actual literary masterpiece that captured Dirk's voice perfectly; truly goes to show that some things are classics for a reason. I read this straight through in September 2023 and then spent most of July 2024 listening to this marvelous Detective Pony audiobook to fall asleep. Highly recommend. Your dreams will be insane.

I've been with The Moss since 2021, and it's become such a comforting constant in my life with its richy furnished world and beautiful art. I have written multiple manifestos on it. I finally caught up to it (for the first time) in August 2023, and my life is better for the time I put into this fic.

I'd qualify this as (recent) historical fiction with a focus on a very, very broken family and all the ways intergenerational trauma manifests. There's also weed.

The Moss is an incredibly unique fic that is near and dear to my heart. I'd definitely recommend seeing if it's for you!

They're so messed up I'm actually obsessed. Deidara's smittenness, the stifled survival instincts . . . peak. Just perfect. Sasori's cruelty to the point that kindness is almost the cruelest part? Drives me absolutely batshit!! The poison is the cherry on top. All in all quite the wild ride, rendering me absolutely incoherent. (Do you ever read something so good you wonder about the wellbeing of the author? Yeah. Yeah.)

The fine line between love and hatred and violence is walked so neatly here. Sasori's voice is so in character. I love quiet Deidara at the beginning, he's so clever and everyone seems to forget it because he's also impulsive. It would make sense that he would take time to scope out his new partner.

The injury scene was achingly sweet, it reminds me of a canon line where Deidara references Sasori chastising him for not being prepared/careful enough which like?? It gets me every single time. Their discussions on art being so detailed that they've exhausted every topic? And yet they still argue? At that point it's a love language.

And Sasori trying to hard not to care. Lovely lovely lovely. He may have a strange way of taking care of his loved ones, but it's caretaking nonetheless. Sasori training Deidara is canon to me now. Sasori's discomfort with just . . . not knowing things. Deidara is a mystery to him and that fascinates him! The chakra strings, the way he always comes close to snapping but something stops him every time, Deidara's nonchalance to the point where you can't tell if he actually has no regard for his life, and that scene at the end. OUCH. I always think about the irony of Deidara outliving Sasori, it makes me so sad and this didn't help. Fluff with the promise of canon events getting in the way always gets me. I'm rambling now but god this one's going to stick with me.
