"In fact, I think we've both done enough work for the night," Jin Guangyao says. He has the two needles tucked into the fitted cuff of his sleeve. "Go on back to the disciple quarters. A-Su will be wondering where I am if I don't join her in the garden soon."

Bleak, desolate, and sad. Something about the mundanity of distance and the way Wei Wuxian's self-hatred is cloying even as he lets things happen the way they end up happening really got to me. The way he carries himself and accepts his situation is very true to his martyrdom in canon. This beautifully-written fic made me feel visceral digust, nausea, and sadness. 10/10

Very icky fic. I imagined these three as my other fucked up father/son/brother trio, HashiButsuTobi, and it just about killed me. I'm so glad that we can't see Sect Leader Nie's thought process here, it makes the whole thing more convoluted and upsetting to soley experience the story from Mingjue's perspective. Please be warned that this fic is a very uncomfortable read. Look out for yourself.
