Honestly, what gets me about Maki is her role as an avenger. I'm not sure if "female avenger" is actually an uncommon trope, but it's definitely one I haven't seen very often. Maki is such a fun character beneath that, too. She's playful and scathing. She runs on spite and the chance to prove her family wrong. She loves her sister despite the way their family has pitted them against each other.

Maki is a character that is just so beautifully tragic and powerful, she pushes all the right buttons for me, and the fact that she's absolutely gorgeous doesn't hurt either.
