Rose Lalonde will always occupy a sort of "first love" role in my character history. There will be others after her and there were others before her, but Rose will always be something pivotal. She's funny as shit and she makes me so sad. She is the true teenage weirdgirl representation we all needed. Her layers of bullshit have layers of bullshit. She can deflect anything through the sheer power of her emotional repression.

I was young enough when I read Homestuck that she went from "girl who is me" to "girl who I used to be" in real time, which is . . . very Homestuck, actually.
